Giant are Hiring – Lead Developer (Python)

Giant are seeking a Technical Director for an upcoming production.

This is a full time position and will be based in our studio in Dublin, Ireland.

Reporting to the Pipeline Supervisor and the CG  supervisor, the Lead Developer will be involved in creating and supporting the workflow tools for a large crew of artists at Giant on their latest animated series. Main focus will be on the Maya, Nuke and Substance tools as well as asset / project management tools such as Shotgun.

The role is only open to applicants willing to relocate to Ireland if required and applicants should ideally be eligible to work within the EEA.

Position Responsibilities:
Creating and maintaining new pipeline tools for use by the production artists and TDs at Giant
Work closely with Pipeline and CG Supervisors to determine most efficient workflow solutions
Mentoring junior and new team members
Demonstrating new tools being implemented in the studio
Contribute to the overall pipeline road map for the studio
Monitor and resolve pipeline tickets created by production staff
Diagnosing technical issues, trouble shooting and optimization of files used by the team when needed
R&D to improve efficiency of the production process
Automation of tasks for other departments
Documentation of all relevant work procedures and best practices on propitiatory wiki system
Work close with Production to identify and resolve bottle neck areas in the pipeline
Prioritize tasks within the pipeline department

Position Requirements:
5 plus years of Programming experience, preferably in Python and C++
Degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
Experience programming within CG animation industry Software such as Maya and Nuke
Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Good understanding of relational databases
Familiarity working on a Microsoft windows and Linux infrastructure
Knowledge of render queuing software like Deadline is a plus
Experience in code-sharing, revision control and Git Hub
Knowledge of Shotgun or asset management systems a plus
Must be willing to relocate to Dublin
